FAIRBANKS Three Eclipse soccer teams collected opening roundvictories atthe adidas Clash at the Border tournament Friday in the neighboring cities of Portland, Oregon and Vancouver, Washington.
Bracket games resume today, and semifinals and championship games are set for Sunday. The tournament features teams from Alaska, Hawaii, Washington, Oregon, California, Idaho, Montana, Utah, Texas and Canada.
Maura Grahek, Kate Baring and Aubrey Stacy scored, and goalkeepers Brooklyn Carver (first half) and Heaven Udarbe (second half) secured the shutot in the game at Portland's Delta Park.
Jace McCullough scored and Carter Mahler recorded the shutout in the Bracket A game for the Eclipse, who play two more Oregon teams today.
The Eclipse 04 girls, led by two goals from Gwendalyn Paneak, emerged with a 3 0 win over Washington's Kelso Three Rivers United in a Bracket B game in the 14U gold, silver and bronze division.
Izzy Widener also scored in the opener at the Harmony while Katie Bast kept Kelso out of cheap jersey the net in the first half and Ainsley Watson secured the shutout in the second half. July 4 at Pioneer Park.
The race, a fundraiser for the West Valley High School cross country team, starts and finishes on Moore Street at the east entrance of the park.
